Components and Production Systems
Ram is a dedicated truck brand that stands for dependability, capability and efficiency with a strong core market in North America and a fast growing presence internationally.
????????Since its launch as a
stand-alone division in 2009, the Ram brand has emerged as a
key player in the industry with the award-winning all-new Ram 1500, the longest lasting line of heavy duty trucks and a full range of light commercial vans – all Built to Serve.
Separating the brand from Dodge and creating a
distinct identity has allowed the Ram brand to focus on its
core business, markets, and customers.
By investing substantially in innovation and new products, Ram has proven to be capable, efficient and durable, and continues to
beat the competition in capturing the most sought-after titles:
In recent years, manufacturing capacity in North America has been realigned to better meet
market demand for Ram pickup trucks within the existing plant infrastructure. Retooling the footprint in the Region to increase production of Ram vehicles will allow us to fully capitalize on the
strength of the brand as demand continues to shift towards its core product segments.
The All-New 2019 Ram 1500 has already racked up significant awards, including Best of Show at the North American International Auto Show and Ward’s Best Interiors, among others.
The Ram 1500 pick-up truck became the first truck to be named Motor Trend’s “Truck of the
Year” for two consecutive years (2013 and 2014).
The ram’s head logo debuted as a hood ornament on cars in 1932 as a symbol of vehicles that
were swift, strong, sure and proud.
The 1932 hood ornament was designed by sculptor Avard T. Fairbanks, who had previously
design the Plymouth hood ornament. After working out several different designs in clay,
including a lion, tiger and jaguar, he presented a leaping ram to Walter P. Chrysler and several
other executives. When asked “why a ram?” Fairbanks responded, “It’s sure footed; it’s the King
of the Trail; and it won’t be challenged by anything.”
The Ram nameplate made its pickup truck debut in 1981.
The 1946 Power-Wagon was America’s first mass-produced four-wheel-drive pickup truck.
In 2004, the Guinness Book of World Records certified the Dodge Ram SRT-10 as the world’s
fastest production pickup truck.
